Chain-reaction accident that starts with a deer to blame for accident Tuesday morning on Hwy 45

Jan. 30, 2018 – West Bend, WI –  There was a chain-reaction accident involving a deer and three vehicles this morning, Jan. 30, 2018. Washington County Sheriff’s got the call at 6:22 a.m. on Highway 45 southbound and Highway NN.

One southbound vehicle struck a deer and that “catapulted it into the ditch,” according to Capt. Martin Schulteis.

The first vehicle spun around and was rear ended by another vehicle and then a third ran over debris.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 47-year-old woman from Campbellsport, was taken to Froedtert St. Joseph’s Hospital with neck and back injuries.

Traffic was delayed for over an hour. A tow truck was called to the scene. Once vehicle was drivable but the other needed to be towed.

No children were involved in the accident according to Capt. Schulteis.
