VIDEO | Cedar Community partners with Town of West Bend to hire new public safety officer

Town of West Bend, Wi – Cedar Community President and CEO Nicole Pretre a partnership agreement with the Town of West Bend. Town of West Bend Supervisor and Board Chair, Troy Zagel, and Pretre have been in conversations regarding Cedar Community’s support for the town’s first full-time, dedicated public safety officer, through the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. While the town is still working on all of the details, Cedar Community has expressed its commitment to offer financial support for the role.

Pretre made the announcement at Cedar Community’s annual leadership gathering, Becoming a Champion for Others | Service in the Line of Fire, which featured Lt. Brian Murphy of the Oak Creek Police Department (ret), as the headline speaker.

In front of a capacity crowd of first responders, civic, community, and corporate leaders, Pretre celebrated the opportunity.

“The Town of West Bend leadership has committed to adding a full-time law enforcement officer to their team in order to enhance public safety services for residents of the Town of West Bend—which includes two of Cedar Community’s campuses. In the spirit of collaboration, Cedar Community has agreed to help support this program. We are thankful for the town’s commitment to the safety of our friends and neighbors and are pleased to come alongside them in this effort. I commend Troy Zagel and the town board for this decision and am pleased to bring Cedar Community’s financial support to this effort.”

Troy Zagel, Town of West Bend Chairman, echoed the positive sentiment. “The Town of West Bend is truly grateful for the support of Cedar Community to help ensure the continued safety and well-being of the town’s residents. Bringing a dedicated full-time public safety officer to our town has been a goal for some time, and Cedar Community’s financial assistance makes this possible without utilizing tax levy funds. For over 70 years, Cedar Community has cared for many of our residents, and this is another example of their continued support of our town.”
