Cedar Community State survey results indicate zero deficiencies | By Carrie Sturn

West Bend, WI – Cedar Community is extremely proud to share they have completed their annual state recertification survey with ZERO deficiencies.

Heather Suarez Del Real, RN, director of nursing noted, “A deficiency free survey is not common. It is a testament to the amazing team at Cedar Community. The surveyors had great things to say about the team members and everything they saw while at Cedar Community.”

The survey team had high praise for our leadership team who provides guidance and support to our nursing team on a daily basis including Kelli DeRuyter, RN, vice president of clinical services; Heather Suarez del Real, RN, director of nursing; and Kendra Riekkoff, RN, infection preventionist.

DeRuyter praised the entire team at Cedar Community, “This is a well deserved honor for our entire team, especially during the pandemic and the protocols that were ever-changing throughout the last 15 months. Our team persevered and we accomplished a deficiency-free survey because of the phenomenal care provided by everyone who works at Cedar Community.”

A deficiency is a violation of federal and/or state regulation. Surveys are not announced to the facility. They may be conducted at any time including weekends, 24 hours a day. Nursing homes participating in Medicare and Medicaid are required by federal law to undergo an annual survey and certification process.

Nursing homes must be in substantial compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements, as well as state law.

All nursing homes that are certified for either Medicare, Medicaid, or both are required to abide by federal and state regulations. The regulations require nursing homes provide quality care and quality of life that is sufficient for residents to attain and maintain their highest practicable physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
