June 19, 2021 – Town of Polk, WI – On Saturday June 19, 2021 at 5:34 a.m. the Washington County Dispatch Center received a hang up 911 call that pinned to the area of Summit Ridge in the Town of Polk. Washington County Deputies were dispatched to the area to check for a possible emergency.
Prior to their arrival a second 911 call was received reporting a house fire at 4474 Summit Ridge possibly due to a lightning strike. The Slinger Police Department was requested under mutual aid to respond to assist in evacuating the residence, and the Slinger Fire Department was paged.
Upon arrival of the first Officer, fire could be seen coming out of the roof vents and all occupants had evacuated the home.
The Slinger Fire Department upgraded the house fire to the box level requesting assistance from following departments: St Lawrence, Hartford, Allenton, West Bend, Jackson, Germantown, Cedarburg, Menomonee Falls, Kohlsville, Kewaskum, Newburg, and Lifestar rescue.

Vehicle traffic was limited on Summit Ridge for approximately six hours to assist in firefighting efforts. One firefighter was treated for a non-life threatening heat related injury suffered during firefighting efforts.
The building and contents were a total loss, initial cost estimate is over $800,000. A cat is also believed to have perished in the fire.
The Red Cross is on scene assisting the home owners. The fire remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
