Canvassing underway – April 7 election results from Washington County will post shortly

April 13, 2020 – Washington Co., WI – Canvassing is underway in cities, towns and villages across Washington County as the ballots from the April 7, 2020 Spring election are being tabulated.

Results from the races in the City of West Bend will be announced around 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The races include the next mayor of West Bend, and aldermen in District 3 and District 7. There was also a local race for three seats on the West Bend School Board however those final totals will have to come from the Washington County Clerk as that also included ballots from the Village of Jackson and portions of the town.

Washington County Clerk Ashley Reichert said she will begin tallying votes after 4 p.m. “We will be uploading our results as we receive them,” said Reichert. “Our final results will be labeled at the top of the page ‘Unofficial final results.'”

Reichert said the final canvassing for Washington County will be held Wednesday morning, April 15, 2020. School Districts will have a final canvass with a deadline of Thursday, April 16 at 9 a.m.

Each municipality will complete its final canvas sometime this week.

Reichert said the voter turnout for Washington County, minus the City of West Bend, was 55 percent as of election night. However, there a final turnout number has not been calculated with the absentee ballots.

If a ballot is received by a municipal clerk in the mail today, April 13, 2020, before 4 p.m. and it is postmarked April 7, 2020 it will be counted in the final tally. However, if a ballot is received Tuesday, April 14 it will not be counted, according to Reichert.
