January 3, 2023 – Washington Co., Wi – Today at 5 p.m. is the deadline to file candidacy papers to be eligible to be on the ballot for the April 4, 2023 Spring Election.
What follows is a list of some of the races in villages, towns, cities, and school districts across Washington County. Note, those running for local school boards did not have to turn in signatures in order to run for office. Those running for other offices were required to turn in signatures, anywhere from 20 to 40.
Kewaskum School Superintendent Mark Bazata confirmed all three incumbents did file papers to run again. An update will be filed after 5 p.m. should someone else jump in the mix in the final hour.
West Bend Superintendent Jen Wimmer filed the list below. That will be updated should someone else file by 5 p.m. The three incumbents all filed non-candidacy in December 2022. There are three seats open on the April 2023 ballot. The ballot draw is slated for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 to determine the order the candidates will be listed on the April ballot.
Late word, another candidate who filed for West Bend School District is Nick Stewart.
Slinger School Board incumbent Bruce Hassler filed non-candidacy. There are two seats up for election in April.
School Board incumbent Jody Strupp filed to run again. Others filing candidacy include Heidi Lofy, Brenda Leitheiser, and Cindy Burg.
There are two candidates running for one seat on the Hartford Union High School Board. The order on the ballot will be No. 1 Nolan Jackett and No. 2 Tracy Hennes.
In the Village of Kewaskum, Village President David Spenner, who took over when Kevin Scheunemann stepped down, has filed non-candidacy. Village Trustee Mike ‘Fuzz’ Martin has filed papers to run for Village President.
Kewaskum clerk and now new administrative assistant Tammy Butz said all three incumbent trustees have filed papers to run again. Also Marnie Parse has filed signatures to run for Village Trustee.
In the City of West Bend, the latest aldermanic candidate list is below. The deadline to turn in signatures is 5 p.m.
The City clerk in Hartford, WI has a lot of last-minute activity.

Dist 3 candidates Tina Savage and Kathleen Isleb
In the Village of Richfield, John Jeffords and Tom Wolff filed candidacy to run again for the Richfield Village Board. Don Kriefall filed non-candidacy.
There are two other candidates that filed to run for Village Board in Richfield including Nolan Jackett and Pam Schmitt.
