Germantown dominates in route of Green Bay East | By Jason Howarth

February 25, 2022 – Germantown, WI -Green Bay East Red Devils vs Germantown Warhawks Girls Basketball WIAA Division 1 Regionals Semifinal

Despite being a playoff matchup, this was a game that was never close and a total mismatch.
Green Bay East ended up playing in this game as a result of their second victory all season, 43-31 over Milwaukee Marshall/Young Coggs in the opening round, but was woefully unprepared for the Warhawks intensity on defensive and the offensive glass. The combination of great passing and forcing Green Bay East turnovers gave Germantown a 34-3 advantage just under halfway through the first half. It became so lopsided an affair that the Warhawks star player, junior Kamorea “KK” Arnold played about seven minutes total, scoring seven points.

Germantown went up 52-17 at the half, letting up slightly on offense, but still taking and making a lot of shots, especially from three-point range. Credit to both teams for playing both halves of the game with heart and effort, even if the game was over effectively before the second half even started. The Warhawks commit 21 total fouls, which is something to clean up for future games.

Green Bay East senior Judit Munoz-Lopez carried her team’s offense, scoring 23 of the Red Devil’s 38 total points.

Germantown freshman Danica Gosz saw a lot of extra court time due to the blowout and made the most it by leading the Warhawks with 20 points including multiple three-pointers. Gosz gave a lot of praise to her teammates for their efforts and the amount of fun she has on and off the court with them. “We’re all really close and do a lot of stuff together outside of basketball, like these girls are my best friends which also helps with the (team) chemistry,” Gosz said.

No. 1 Germantown continues their playoff run as they look to win back-to-back WIAA Division Championships by closing out the Regional against No. 9 Hartford Union on Saturday February 26 at 7p.m. in Germantown.
