Soon that is all that will be left as the old brewery on N. Main Street is being demolished to make way for apartments.
Below is a photo gallery of the iconic building that had a unique German architectural flair. Feel free to add your photos.
I’m writing this with tears in my eyes. Why are all the good memories being taken away from us? This building holds a special place in my heart, my parents operated a tavern in Barton in the late 50’s, early 60’s and I remember the beer trucks delivering all the different beers. Lithia beer was one of them, one of many. My parents are long gone as is the tavern, but the building is still there and I hope it never disappears like this iconic brewery.
Why is this not being saved????? This is West Bend history! I have been in the beer caves. Such an amazing building. Why didn’t the common counsel save it. Unbelievable
I’m not sure putting apartments on that lot is satisfying . I would of thought to open up to a more nature setting . to accent the walk way along the river. The city has been improving the land escaping a little creativity for those that love to be out doors. To many apartment on the river no privacy . they could use part of riverside to build this big complex apartments know it’s going to be private and the enjoyment of walking along the river will be like walking in someone’s back yard . Yes it is like a ghost town in that area and l can’t wait to see those building gone . their to old to repair .but don’t lose the scenic nature to private land owners .
