July 24, 2021 – Washington Co., WI – Country rock singer and songwriter Brantley Gilbert took the stage at the Washington County Fair about a half-hour behind schedule Saturday night. That’s because traffic was still backed up on Highway 45 waiting to get into the fair.
The weather was perfect and Gilbert fans were dressed for the occasion in cowboy boots and t-shirts that read BG Nation and Kick it in the Sticks.
Gilbert was more than comfortable headlining in Washington County. Dressed in a black cutoff t-shirt, black jeans and a black baseball hat his songs drew as much applause as his banter.
“It was about 10 years ago I realized I was allergic to alcohol. I break out in handcuffs…,” he said. “I had to find a new habit… so I just became a bigger Willie Nelson fan.”
Gilbert is one of only four country artists with back-to-back platinum certified albums and hit songs such as The Weekend, Bottoms Up, and Country Must Be Country Wide.
