Washington County, WI – This week, Al Wisnefske, Owner/Broker of Land & Legacy Group, LLC, answers the question “How big is an acre of land?”
This past week had a little bit of everything — some real estate club meetings, an accepted offer, some marketing meetings, consultations with two buyers, and a family wedding. We also toured the parade of homes on Monday in Sussex.
It’s always cool to see what builders are up to and what trends are being utilized. There were a total of nine homes we visited.
I must say, I’ll stick to the rural property stuff as they weren’t really my “cup of tea.” These homes sat on an average lot size of an acre — which got me thinking…how is it best to describe an acre? Well, this week I’ll do just that.
HOW BIG IS AN ACRE OF LAND?
Here are some ways to visualize how big it is:
- Football Field – an acre is about 75% of a football field
- Basketball Court – an acre is about 9x the size of a court
- King Size Bed – an acre is about 1,032 king-size beds
- Dollar Bill – an acre would equal 391,419 dollar bills
There are other ways to measure an acre:
- 1 acre = 1/640th of a square mile
- 1 acre = 4,840 square yards
