VIDEO | Auto Safety Center donates cookies to Cedar Community

April 18, 2021 – West Bend, WI – The team at Auto Safety Center in West Bend managed to pay it forward twice, with one event as the locally-owned auto repair shop purchased 140 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and then turn around and donated the cookies to residents at Cedar Community.

“I’m thankful my staff embraced the idea and got excited when the scouts came in and made it easy for the kids,” said Joe Valind, owner of Auto Safety Center. “I’m also thankful to Cedar Community for taking the cookies so then we didn’t have to eat them.”

Mike Hilzey from Auto Safety Center put the scouts through their paces before making the purchase. “Thanks to the parents for bringing the girls to the shop,” he said. “But we weren’t a pushover; the girls had to give their speech and sell it.”

Hilzey said a lot of the girls were going to use the money they raised to go horseback riding at camp and another groups was going to use their money for a scuba diving trip.

The staff at Cedar Community handed out the cookies to residents.  A welcomed treat.
