West Bend, WI – Michelle Hockers, an award-winning attorney at Murphy & Prachthauser Law Firm is one of 10 local celebrities competing for the Mirror Ball Trophy in a Dancing with Our Stars event Saturday in West Bend.
“My partner is East Dance senior, Mikayla Craighead,” said Hockers. “She has choreographed a dance for us to do together. I don’t know exactly the type of dance classifications it falls into.”
Each dance team member had to choose a community member and choreograph a routine/dance to perform. “We are limited to 5 hours of practice with our partner before the dance,” said Hockers. “None of the celebrities was allowed to have previous dance experience.”
Hockers was a cheerleader from 5th through 8th grade. “That’s the closest I’ve ever come to dance and let me tell you the routine is very challenging for me.”
While fit from running, Hockers said the dance was “an entirely different workout and my legs are extremely sore after only a few practices.”
She praised her coach/partner Mikayla and said those in attendance will “have a little surprise at the end of our routine.”
“I’m definitely anxious about dancing in front of a crowd,” said Hockers. “If it were just speaking, I wouldn’t be nervous at all. Now, I just hope I can remember what to do next and that I can keep up!”
This is the 3rd annual Dancing with Our Stars at the Silver Lining Auditorium. Come cheer on the East Dancers and their community partners as they compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy.
