Another property on Highway 33 changes hands

June 7, 2017 – West Bend, WI – There’s been somewhat of a flurry of property sales on Highway 33 west in West Bend in recent months and today paperwork came through the city assessor’s office that a 1.38-acre parcel on W. Washington Street sold.

The Living Trust of Sharon E.  Marth was the previous owner of the woodsy lot just north of the RE/MAX building.

According to the register of deeds, that parcel had been in the Marth family since March 27, 1972 when William J. Marth bought it from Richard J. Sander and his wife Jeanne A. Sander.

Records show the lot sold June 1, 2017 for $360,000 to the Ice Age Trail Alliance, Inc., A Wisconsin Corporation.

Calls have been placed to the Ice Age Trail Alliance to see what it will do with the property.

A betting man might say they’ll use the site as an access point to Ridge Run Park. The Ice Age Trail comes out across the road on Highway 33 just behind Culvers. The path could continue into the park although a path would need to be cleared and a bridge would be in order because there’s a creek that runs along the back of that lot.

We are a city in need of a lot of bridges lately.

On a side note: How many parcels on Highway 33 can you name that changed hands recently?

Here’s a head start – In June 2016 Russ Darrow purchased nearly 11 acres on West Washington Street just east of Valley Avenue. He bought the lot from Steve Kearns.

Stacy and Matt Gehring purchased a 3+ acre lot to the west of Westbury Bank for their Pizza Ranch and then turned around and sold it to Steve Kearns about a week later for a $200,000 profit.

The lot on Highway 33 near Sendik’s was sold to West Bend Enterprises, LLC.

Watch for an announcement soon as a new Honda dealer is coming to town. That location is expected to be determined in the coming weeks.
