November 8, 2021 – Kewaskum, WI – Anne Trautner has been named the new executive director of the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center in Kewaskum.
As a reporter for the Statesman, Trautner has followed the progress of the 9/11 Memorial closely. Currently the clerk for the Town of Kewaskum, Trautner said she would be able to hold down her other jobs while also managing this part-time post.
Trautner said it was an honor to represent the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center.
“So many individuals, organizations and businesses have donated their time and resources to create such an important memorial for the state, and I am proud to be part of it,” she said.
Trautner will be focusing her efforts on maintaining the memorial, fundraising and creating events to help promote and educate about the significance of September 11.
“I look forward to working with the Board of Directors to plan events and programs, as well as to develop a strategic plan to ensure sufficient funds are generated to properly maintain this beautiful memorial for years to come. In addition, I am very excited about the opportunity to offer educational programs for residents and students across the state. The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center offers a unique opportunity for people to come together and remember, reflect and learn.”
The 9/11 Memorial is centered around a steel beam recovered from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The memorial honors not only those who perished, including Kewaskum graduate Andrea Lyn Haberman, but also all those who responded to the atrocity of 9/11.
The memorial will be hosting a Veterans Day ceremony Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 1 p.m.
