Anne Trautner files to run for District 7, Washington County Supervisor

January 2, 2024 – Washington Co., Wi – Today is the deadline to turn in paperwork for the April 2024 Spring Election. All the Washington County Supervisor seats are up for election, and in District 7 the Town of Kewaskum clerk Anne Trautner has filed to run for the open seat.

It was the final quarter of 2023 when incumbent supervisor William Szymczyk resigned his post.

“I feel I know what’s going on in the community, and I’d like to do something positive as a way of giving back,” said Trautner.

It was the day before Christmas when Trautner decided to throw her hat in the ring. She said some of the issues she was concerned about in county government included roads, the future of the Samaritan Home, revenue sharing, and transparency in government.

“Transparency is very important to me, especially with my background in journalism,” said Trautner. “Things should be done in an open and honest fashion, not behind closed doors.”

Originally from Racine, Trautner received her bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1988 from UW-Madison. She met her husband-to-be in Madison, and after they married, his career in engineering took them to Chicago, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Lake Geneva and eventually to Kewaskum in 2015.

Trautner successfully ran for office in 2021 when she won the seat as the Town of Kewaskum clerk, replacing Holly Knoeck who took a seat as town supervisor. Trautner was re-elected Kewaskum town clerk in 2023.
