It is on this day we honor the combined armed forces including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and the Space Force.
In observance of this day, the West Bend American Legion, American Legion Riders, Sons of the American Legion and volunteers will be placing flags at gravesites of veterans buried at local cemeteries. The event starts at 9 a.m.
The public is welcome to participate in this event.
Chris Schatz will be at Holy Angels Cemetery with Steve Rohde at Washington County Memorial Park. Glenn Pietschmann will be coordinating activities at Union Cemetery.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to become involved in honoring our veterans who have served in the past,” said American Legion Commander Charles Young.
Sons of American Legion member Chris Schatz said, “It is heartwarming to see so many volunteers participating. We would like to thank those who have volunteered in the past.”
On that same day, American Legion members will be installing United States flags on lamp posts in the downtown West Bend area as well as Barton and Veterans Plaza.
