Dec. 2, 2018 – Jackson, WI – On the quiet, snowy evening of Dec. 2, women of all ages gathered at Morning Star Lutheran Church in Jackson for their annual Advent by Candlelight service.
The program started with an hour of food and social time around tables illuminated with candles.
Around 100 women were there for the fellowship as well as the service that followed.
The focus of the evening was on the different Marys found in the Bible. Passages from the Bible were read, emotional stories were told, and hymns were sung.
This was the tenth year Morning Star has run the event and for the past nine years, it has been run by Becky Wierschem.
She is not alone however, she has a committee of women who help her make the program so special.
“It’s a lovely way to welcome ladies and to celebrate the coming of Christmas and its true meaning,” Wierschem said.
Many churches in the Washington County area are hosting similar programs; a great way to prepare both hearts and minds for the quickly approaching Christmas.
