February 15, 2023 – Hartford, WI – Heavy snow and high winds are set to wallop Washington County, WI and neighboring areas Thursday, February 16, 2023.
National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Washington County. Forecasters predict 4 to 8 inches of snow, wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph and blowing and drifting snow are expected to cover Washington, Jefferson, Waukesha, and Walworth counties between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, including West Bend, Germantown, and Hartford.

Similar conditions are forecast throughout Southeastern and South-Central Wisconsin, with the highest snow totals, of up to 9 or 10 inches, expected close to Lake Michigan including in Port Washington, Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha.
The forecast prompted Hartford area schools, including Hartford Union High School, and Herman Neosho Rubicon schools in Dodge County, to announce Thursday closures early.
Germantown schools also announced Thursday closures according to several Milwaukee media outlets.
Temperatures during the storm are expected to be relatively mild with West Bend temps forecast to reach the mid to upper 20s Thursday before dropping to the low 20s Thursday evening and into the teens or high single digits overnight into Friday.
Forecasters urge caution for drivers, especially afternoon and evening commuters.
