Obituary | David E. Schaefer, 84, of Neosho

January 2, 2020 – Neosho, WI –David E. Schaefer, 84, of Neosho, Wisconsin went home to the Lord Tuesday, December 31, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

David E. Schaefer

David was born November 27, 1935 in Oconomowoc, WI to Myrtle (nee Multhauf) and John C. Schaefer. He lived on the Schaefer Family Farm since 8 years of age, farming with his father until his passing. He was united in marriage to Elmira A. Damrow on May 28, 1960 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge, WI. Farming and John Deere tractors were a few of his lifelong passions.

David enjoyed farming and operating the farm with his daughter Jackie. He also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, as he was a big sports fan, traveling, and most of all being with his family. David was a faithful and longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashippun where he served 2 terms as President, a member of the finance committee, and was also an Elder. He always had a great joke to tell and a wonderful sense of humor. David had a warm, cheerful, unforgettable smile that will be dearly missed.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elmira Schaefer; loving children, Brian (Jackie) Schaefer and Jackie Schaefer; cherished grandson, Zachary Schaefer; cherished God-son, Jessie Bishop; dear sisters, Joan Schaefer and Lisa (Mike) Bertelson; dear siblings-in-law, Waldemar (Emma) Damrow and Elvira (Roger) Kehl; and his special fur friend, Duke. He is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Arthur and Erna Damrow.

Funeral Services for David will be held January 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, N12455 St. John’s Way, Oconomowoc, WI 53066, with Rev. Gary Tillmann officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
