VIDEO | Remember when – West Bend

January 1, 2020 – West Bend, WI – There’s a huge framed photo sitting in the building inspection office at City Hall in West Bend. The picture measures about 5 feet x 6 feet. It’s an aerial shot overlooking Regner Park, N. Main Street and the former West Bend Company.

In an effort to correctly date the photo we’re going to lean into local historians and ask them to take a look. Can you identify the building on the west side of the railroad track.

Neighbors in West Bend will easily recognize the old West Bend Company. Anything you notice? Where is the elevated tram tunnel that ran out the back of the building. When was that added?

The current bridge running over the Milwaukee River to Silverbrook Drive hasn’t been built yet.

Kuester Island has an interesting look and no parking lot or bridge.

Is that the Luchen Ford Dealership in the lower left corner? What’s currently the building for the Parks Department. (Tennies offered correct insight: Ted Lauck Chevrolet was where the park dept, garage is now.)

Check out the old Clark gas station where the skateboard park is now. Can you identify any of the businesses in that strip.

Was a house leveled to make way for Toucan Custard?

On Highway 33 is that the old monument building in the upper right hand corner?

Any help appreciated. Have fun and thanks for disregarding the glare off the glass.
