Obituary | Marvin Hahn, 78, formerly of Hartford

November 30, 2019 – Hartford, WI –Marvin Hahn, 78, of Nekoosa, WI passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday November 26, 2019. He was born in Iron Ridge on March 20, 1941 to William and Mabel Hahn. He graduated from Hartford Union High School in 1961 and worked at Broan Mfg as well as a neighborhood farm. In 1972 he moved to Woodruff, WI where he bought a bar and restaurant calling it the Hahn-A-LuLa Inn with his sister Mary. Then in 1974 he started his own landscaping business Starvin Marvin’s Yard Service and was proud of all the work he put in for his customers until his retirement just a few years ago. He also served as a volunteer fireman for over 20 years in Arbor Vitae.

In 1979 he built his home and loved having all the “southerners” he grew up within the Hartford area come up to party at his house. He loved entertaining for family and friends and there was always a cold beer waiting for you in the fridge. Marvin liked to laugh and celebrate, he enjoyed cooking, snowmobiling, ATV, UTV, playing cards, traveling, being Santa’s Helper, collecting old cars and gas pumps, the Green Bay Packers and of course a cold Bud Light. He liked to stop in at a tavern for a break and mingle with the locals always getting the latest gossip. When Marvin had an opinion about something, he was never afraid to share it – good, bad or indifferent.

In 2014 he built his retirement home with the help of his best friend Mark in the Town of Rome. Not ready to retire yet, you could find him cutting up wood to sell, manicuring his lawn, critiquing the latest restaurant he ate at or sitting back watching the deer gather in his backyard while listening to his polka or country music. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was dedicated to attending weekend mass, as long as it didn’t go over an hour. Most of all he was very generous to all who touched his life, willing to lend you a hand, pick you some berries, create you a Christmas wreath or take you out to dinner.

Marvin is survived by his sisters Lorraine Nagel, Dorothy (Richard) Frey, Lucille (John) VanStraten and brother John (Gloria) Hahn, Jim (Nancy) Hahn, Sister-in-law Annette (Neu) Hahn and brother-in-law Walter (Ski) Klink. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harland (Caroline) Hahn, Clement (Margaret) Hahn, Charlie Hahn and sisters Mildred (Frank) Vollman, Mary Klink and brother-in-law Marvin Nagel.

A Memorial Service for Marvin will be held Saturday December 7, 2019 at St. Lawrence Church with Rev. Rick Stoffel officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until mass at 11:00 a.m.

A special thanks to Mark for all the help you provided the past several years in making sure Marvin was well taken care of.
