School bus vs. garbage truck accident in Village of Richfield | By Washington County Sheriff

November 18, 2019 – Village of Richfield, WI – On November 18, 2019 the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Hillside and Hubertus road in the Village of Richfield for a school bus versus garbage truck crash with minor injuries.

The school bus did not have any children on board at the time of the crash. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Village of Germantown Police Department and the Richfield Fire Department.

Upon arrival of the first officer it was found that the garbage truck driver was trapped inside the vehicle with minor injuries and would need to be extricated by the fire department.

Hubertus Road between Hillside Road and Scenic Road was closed for approximately three hours to assist in removal of the vehicles. An investigation into the crash determined that the garbage truck driver did not see the stop sign on Hillside road due to the fog, and failed to yield the right of way to the school bus
