November 6, 2019 – West Bend, WI – With a light snow, darkness, and temperatures falling the Museum of Wisconsin Art unveiled its largest canvas Wednesday night as a time-lapse video is projected onto the south end of the museum across from the MOWA Gardens, 205 Veterans Ave., in West Bend.
MOWA’s Jessica Wildes spoke live within minutes of the show getting underway. The video is a two-story display that, according to MOWA, “captures the floral notes of Bloomin’ Holidays—by Milwaukee-based artist Maeve Jackson.”
According to Jackson’s webpage:
As an emerging artist, Maeve Jackson is resistant to being associated with any single medium though she prefers working with the platforms of video & photography. Her work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions in Milwaukee, as well as Brooklyn, NY; Greensboro College, NC; Chicago,IL, and Barcelona, Spain. She has been featured in exhibitions at John Michael Kohler Art Center (Sheboygan, WI); and locally at (the once) Dean Jensen Gallery with a solo exhibition at The Alice Wilds.
Wildes said the video of flowers coming to life was designed to capture everyone’s attention and encourage them to explore the beautiful museum and the annual Bloomin’ Holidays exhibit.
“We used the exterior of the museum to help promote Bloomin’ Holiday and the wonderful floral designers within our state,” said Wildes.
Bloomin’ Lights, which is free and open to the public, will run through Sunday, November 10 from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
The 7th annual Bloomin’ Holidays will kick off Thursday at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
The event features 25 floral arrangements.
