The state of Wisconsin has commissioned Payne and Dolan to resurface the road and install cable in the median to prevent crossover traffic.
It’ll cost $21.8 million to put median barriers in and resurface 22 miles of I41 from I41/US 45 split by Cabela’s to the Dodge County Line. Contractors will also replace two small bridge structures on I41 just north of State Highway 33.

Work crews return next spring to complete the remaining work with an expected final completion date of fall 2020. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

Project Improvements

  • Resurface 22 miles of I-41
  • Install median cable barrier within the project limits
  • Replace two smaller bridge structures along I-41 just north of WIS 33

The project comes after years of local advocacy for I-41 safety improvements from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Highway Department, and local advocates.
