Obituary | Deloris I. Abel, 86, of Barton

October 2, 2019 – Barton, WI – Deloris I. Abel, 86, of the town of Barton, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.

Deloris was born on July 3, 1933 the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (nee Rummel) Utech. On October 24, 1953, Deloris was united in marriage to Herbert Abel at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. Herbert preceded Deloris in death on April 30, 2012. Deloris worked as a school bus driver for Johnson Bus and enjoyed hunting, fishing at Lake Noquebay, watching the hummingbirds and spending time with her family. She was a strong woman who lived her faith by more actions than words.

Those Deloris leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Melvin (Nancy) Abel of Greenwood, Audrey (Jim) Kell of West Bend, Brian (Mary) Abel of West Bend, and Christine Abel of Cascade; ten grandchildren, Jeremy (Brenda) Kell, Angie (Eric) Schmoldt, Amber (Jerry) Halopka, Joe (Liz) Kell, Aly (Aaron) Hauser, Breenna (Robbie) Smith, Cassie (Steven) Benedict, Trevor Abel, Adam (Kelly) Abel, and Rebekah (Adam) Dorwaldt; eighteen and a half great-grandchildren, Logan Kell, Nicholas Kell, Hayden Schmoldt, Joshua Schmoldt, Gabriel Halopka, Nathanael Halopka, Lydia Halopka, Noah Kell, Naomi Kell, Jonah Kell, Bennett Abel, Cullen Abel, Natalie Abel, Hannah Dorwaldt, Emily Dorwaldt, Joseph Dorwaldt, Luka Smith, Eliya Smith, and baby Smith on the way; a brother, August (Lillian) Utech of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Deloris was preceded in death by a sister, Arleen (Richard) Stern and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Abel.

A funeral service for Deloris will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Avenue, in West Bend with Rev. Aaron Hauser officiating. Burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park.

Deloris’ family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Deloris’ arrangements.
