August 15, 2019 – West Bend, WI – The refurbished West Bend Theatre sign has arrived in downtown West Bend. The sign was delivered by Poblocki Sign just after 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. The weather is dramatically different from when the sign was removed Dec. 27, 2018.
Some of the upgrades include a series of new panels along the back of the sign. “That’ll allow us to get in and make repairs to the electrical,” said Bob Poblocki with Poblocki Sign. “They used to make repairs to the lights by busting out through the back of the bulb and pulling the wiring through and then pushing it back in. This way will be much better.”
There is a long, insulated electric cord that will need to be hooked up to a panel before the sign can be lit. “We had it lighted up for two days straight before we brought it out here,” said Poblocki.
A portion of N. Main Street will be closed to traffic until about 2 p.m. today while the sign is hung on the side of the building.
A ceremonial lighting will be held in September.
