Life-threatening injuries to 9 year old in ATV accident | By Dodge County Sheriff

June 30, 2019 – Dodge Co., WI – At 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an ATV crash on County M/Rhine Rd in the Town of Emmet.

Investigation shows a 48-year-old male from Watertown was operating a 2003 Honda ATV with a 9-year-old male passenger from Rio.

The operator lost control of the ATV in the intersection causing the ATV to roll and eject both the driver and the passenger.

The operator suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Watertown Hospital.  He was later transferred to Aurora Hospital in Summit.

The 9 year old passenger suffered serious life-threating injuries and was also taken to Watertown Hospital.  He was later flown to Children’s Hospital in Madison.

This case remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  Assisting at the scene was the Wisconsin State Patrol, Watertown Paramedics, Watertown Fire, and Watertown Police.  It is believed that alcohol was a factor in this crash.
