Captain Martin Schulteis with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, accepts an X-Tinguish® FST (Fire Suppression Tool) from Ten 2 Communications, LLC, in Slinger, WI. Owners Rick and Beth Cohn made the donation to the department, along with Ten 2 staff member Ron Naab.
The FST is a new tool for fire suppression. The FST is a small, portable unit that when deployed releases a cloud of aerosol that promptly interrupts the chain reaction in the flame, including early stage and fully developed fires; preventing flashovers and back-drafts. Not only does the FST knockdown flames, it greatly reduces the temperature, reduces the need for water, and can limit the fire’s propagation. The X-Tinguish® FST is non-pressurized and is deployed manually by pulling a pin which in turn sets off an electronic ignition system. It is as simple as the manufactures representative’s catch phrase—“Pull the pin and throw it in!”
This new fire technology, the X-Tinguish® FST not only can save lives and property, it makes the fire scene dramatically safer for all Emergency Personnel. It is non-corrosive and proven safe to breath. The unit even has the ability to operate in -65° F.
The unit donated by Ten 2 Communications will be carried in the Washington County Sheriff’s Department shift supervisor’s vehicle, giving them the ability to deploy the FST when first on scene. Washington County consists of various rural communities, where fire departments can have a greater response time. The FST will give the county the ability to start the suppression before the fire department arrives on scene.
Ten 2 Communications, LLC, is located in Slinger, WI. The owners, Rick and Beth Cohn, are the exclusive dealers of the X-Tinguish® FST in the state of Wisconsin. With the increase of recent fire deaths in the state of Wisconsin, Ten 2 thought it was pertinent to make one available to their own community.
