VIDEO | Extensive damage at Firemen’s Park in Newburg following flooding

March 19, 2019 – Newburg, WI – The aftermath of ice jams, rushing water and flooding on the Milwaukee River has left a sad mess in its wake at Fireman’s Park in Newburg.

Video shows a pile of ice chunks on the shore in a grassy area just below the U.S. Post in Newburg.

A bit further on there’s a pile of wet logs and a splintered wooden picnic table jutting out of the frozen ice jam.

The fence from the baseball field is a mangled wreck and much of the surrounding area is muddy pool of water and ice.

On Saturday, March 16 the Village declared a Level 2 State of Emergency as repairs were made to the sanitation system.

Sunday, the emergency order was lifted.

Below is an earlier look at flooding on March 15, 2019.

  1. Great job showing the flooding and its aftermath. I wonder if the DNR’s emphasis on removing dams on the Milwaukee River is exasperating the normal spring thaw’s flooding. When I checked the river by our bridge in Newburg Saturday night, it was flowing significantly faster than I’ve ever seen it.
