Feb. 1, 2019 – West Bend, WI – Students across Washington County missed classes this week after frigid temps canceled school and now some are wondering about making up the time.
The West Bend School District issued a note to parents, which included the following statement from the superintendent.
Parents and students may be wondering if the West Bend Schools will have to adjust schedules to make up any of the four recently canceled school days. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) requires a minimum number of instructional hours each school year. We have spent part of this afternoon closely reviewing the number of instructional hours for each school and have determined that all the schools have enough required hours and students will not have to make up time.Obviously, this may change if additional school days are canceled for any reason. Thank you for your understanding during this recent extreme weather.Sincerely,Don Kirkegaard
Superintendent
West Bend Joint School District #1
