Jan. 26, 2019 – Hartford, WI – Design Originals Floral in Hartford, 15 N. Main Street, is closing its doors.
Owner Charlene Jung and her husband Mark, recently announced their retirement and the closing of their floral shop, which opened in 1989. The store in downtown Hartford is expected to close this spring.
“It’s bittersweet,” said Jung. “We are happy to move on but are going to miss our customers. We’ve been here 30 years and have grown to know so many people over the years. We’ve followed our customers through their proms, graduations, their weddings, babies, the loss of their parents…all the life stages.”
The floral business has been a huge part of Jung’s life since high school when she started working in a flower shop. From there, she went to floral school and was eventually led to open Design Originals Floral. “I love the floral industry; its fun and a lot of work, inspiring my creativity every day,” said Jung.
When asked what’s next for Charlene and her husband after retirement she stated, “My husband and I love to camp and we have plans to do just that for the summer – many trips booked,” said Jung. “We’re just going to kick back, relax, see what comes, and enjoy life.”
The couple had no offers during attempts to sell so the business liquidation sales will start Feb. 23, 2019 with the shop permanently closing in April.
