More than medicine at the Kewaskum Veterinary Clinic | By Jordyn Heckendorf

Jan. 20, 2019 – Kewaskum, WI – When it comes to animal care, the Kewaskum Veterinary Clinic differentiates itself from other veterinary clinics through a consistent compassionate atmosphere. According to staff and clients alike, clinic veterinarian Dr. Greg Ogi makes it a priority to establish a personal relationship with them.

Amber Thoma, veterinary technician, described the environment and connection between the workers, “Our work atmosphere is like no other job I have ever had. It is laid back, accepting and overall enjoyable,” she said. “Everyone there is family so you have your good days and bad days, but everyone knows at the end of the day we all come together as one. I couldn’t ask for a better job with better bosses. Dr. Ogi is absolutely wonderful to work for. I see so many selfless acts that man does; he’s truly an inspiration.”

Ogi has been caring for the health of animals for over 36 years and explained his basis behind what he does involves the undeniable bond between people and their pets.

He said he understands just how attached people are to their furry friends. When something such as ill health has the possibility to sever that bond he will do whatever it takes to ensure that doesn’t happen.

However, Ogi admits, that in such cases when there is no cure for a sickness he feels nothing but helplessness. In these tough times, the light at the end of the tunnel for him is simply tending to more animals.

“The animals are always the focal point of every aspect at the clinic,” said Ogi. “To a further extent, however, the outpouring of love shown to them from the staff is indescribable.”

Thoma illustrated this through one of her personal experiences. “Just the other day we had a dog that was in our care after a pretty major orthopedic surgery. She was nervous and anxious and we could not get her to calm down,” Thoma said.  “I ended up making a fort out of blankets and turned on classical piano music. She fell asleep in minutes. It’s something so small, but worked for this particular dog. Care equals comfort.”

The Kewaskum Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary medical facility located in the heart of Kewaskum, WI.
