Repairs will be made to the railroad crossing on Highway 33 in Allenton on Friday, March 18.
A crew from the Canadian National Railroad will be working on the crossing. The Washington County Highway Department will assist with traffic control on behalf of the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The crossing has had issues with spikes moving up from their holding position of the crossing rubber ties along with an actual rubber pad has sunk lower than the rail.
This dangerous condition has caused concern by those that cross the railroad and the highway department.
Washington County Supervisor Ron Naab and County Highway Commissioner Scott Schmidt have been in contact with the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Railroads.
Naab contacted Jackie Macewicz, Canadian National – Manager Public Works about the unsafe condition of the crossing early this week.
“I am very grateful for quick response on behalf of the Canadian National after my contact with Mrs. Macewicz,” said Naab.
“I’m happy the Washington County Highway Department has stepped forward to help correct this unsafe road condition.”
