Pizza Ranch in West Bend treats families to free pizzas this Christmas

West Bend, WI – It’s the season of giving, and what better way to share the love than free food for the holidays!  This December, businesses in West Bend are partnering with local community groups for the ‘12 Days of Pizza Project’.  15 families will be given coupons for one free large pizza or 8 pc chicken for 12 days.

Modern Woodmen of America, US BANK and the West Bend Pizza Ranch have teamed up to sponsor families for the ‘12 Days of Pizza’ program in 2018.

“I think what the Pizza Ranch is doing during the Holiday season is such a blessing,” said Daniel Frey with Modern Woodman America. “We are honored to be apart of this and be able to lend a hand to help others.”

Sean Covel, producer of Napolean Dynamite and a South Dakota native, started the 12 Days of Pizza when he was visiting a friend in Rapid City, SD back in 2015.  This friend, a second-grade teacher, expressed to Sean how some of her students are dependent on existing programs that provide free and reduced meals through the school year, especially during the holiday season when schools are closed leaving the students without a dependable meal source.

“It made such a huge impact on the lives of our families by providing meals during the Christmas break when school meals were not available,” said Ginger Johnson, a social worker in Sturgis, SD. “The families were so grateful and said the program greatly reduced the stress the felt about not having enough food for their children.”

“You have no idea what a blessing this is for us right now,” said an anonymous parent after hearing about the 12 Days of Pizza.

“Are you serious?  Pizza Ranch would do that?  This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” said another parent.

Now in its fourth year, 78 Pizza Ranches are partnering with local businesses to provide over 13,500 meals to nearly 1,150 families across the Midwest.

“We are very thankful to bring this program to West Bend to help families in need,” said Owner/Operator Matt and Stacy Gehring. “We couldn’t have done this without the help of our co-sponsors Modern Woodmen of America – Daniel Frey and US Bank.”

“We are proud of our franchisees and the local businesses in our communities for expanding this great grassroots effort again in 2018,” said Perry Krosschell, Chief Vision  and Mission  Officer at the Pizza Ranch Support Center.
