Nov. 27, 2018 – Rubicon, WI – Cheryl Jean (nee Minchow) Monnahan passed peacefully with her family at her side on November 25, 2018.
She was born in Casper, WY to John and Irene Minchow on May 27, 1947. During her childhood, she spent many summers camping and fishing with her family. She was a member of Job’s Daughters and life-long Girl Scout. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1965 and attended Casper College and Colorado State University. She married James Monnahan on September 14, 1968. They moved to Wisconsin in 1972.
During her life, she was a consummate volunteer and believed in serving her community. She was a member of St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, served on the Saylesville PTO, was President of the Wau-Bun Girl Scout Council, was President of the Hartford Wrestling Club, and served on the HUHS School Board. She was an avid reader and loved to spend time at her sewing machine. She loved her family, and her favorite activity in her retirement was watching her granddaughters at concerts, dance recitals, and musicals.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, James, their children Sheila (Ryan) Parker, Stacy (Tony) Brakob, and John Monnahan, their grandchildren Justin (Nicole) Plautz-Brakob, Marissa Brakob, Miranda Parker, Amiah Brakob, and Keilah Brakob, her siblings Christie (Malloy) Poor, Mike (Terri) Minchow, and Jim (Carol) Minchow, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Service for Cheryl will be held Sunday, December 2, 2018 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church (W653 Roosevelt Road Rubicon, WI 53078) with Pastor Tom Pietz officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00-3:45p.m.
