The secret that kept area residents going back to the Wayside Bar & Grill in Fond du Lac for fish frys for 40 years survived last week’s fire. Placed in a drawer underneath some silverware on the first floor of the bar was a laminated copy of the recipe for the fish fry batter.
A police detective was asked by the family if he could look for the recipe while investigating the fire and the detective found it. The family is considering starting over someplace else and now they have the recipe to do it.
