The West Bend Plan Commission approved a pair of modifications to site plans for Delta Defense as it prepares to break ground on a new corporate headquarters on two lots located east of Corporate Center Drive, Block 1 in
West Bend Corporate Center.
There changes were requested by Delta Defense owner Tim Schmidt. The modifications differed from plans previously approved during the Sept. 1, 2015 meeting.
One of the revisions was to reduce the building footprint although the overall square footage of 64,000 square feet remains the same; the size of the parking lot also has been reduced slightly.
The building architecture will also change from a grey-colored cement board with a dark grey panel to a new light grey brick with a black colored vertical ribbed metal panel.
The Plan Commission voted unanimously to approve the changes.
“Thanks once again to Tim and Tonnie Schmidt and the entire team at Delta Ventures,” said Mayor Kraig Sadownikow. “We know you have lots of choices as to where to locate your business and we appreciate you locating your business here in West Bend.”
Following the meeting Schmidt said they needed to make some design changes because they simply went over budget on their initial plan.
“The main reason was to meet our construction budget target,” he said. “Now we’re exactly where we need to be.”
A spring groundbreaking is likely in April.
Delta Defense provides liability insurance and other services for those with concealed carry permits.
Schmidt needs room to grow as he plans on hiring 130 more employees.
