Obit: Walter Lee Christie Sr., 88, of West Bend

Sept. 4, 2018 – West Bend, WI – Walter Lee Christie Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Cedar Community in West Bend.
He was born on February 9, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Arthur and Lydia (nee Kennell) Christie. Walter served in the U.S. Airforce from 1947-1951 and was a member of the Jackson American Legion #486.
He enjoyed tent camping in northern Wisconsin, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and Glacier National Park, Montana.
He flew around Mt. McKinley, in Alaska, in a Bush plane, flew to Tahiti where he cruised around Society Island and enjoyed numerous trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Walter is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley (nee Paulsen); children, Nadeen (Philip) Koepke, Walt Jr,( Suzy), Virginia (Jim) Lozier, Christine Edgeworth, Yvonne (Tony) Giordano, Elizabeth (Larrel) Lirette; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Emele (Matt), Elliot, Ericka (Josh), Zack (Davina), Jim (Lindsey), Jenny, Joseph, Andrew, Jessica; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Wayne (Betty) Christie of Libertyville, TX; nephews Brian (Bunny) Christie of Cedar Park, TX and John (Amy) Christie of Fort Worth, TX. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Adolf and Mamie (nee Ackerson) Paulsen, brother-in-law Ed Paulsen and niece Lehann.

A Funeral Service will be at 11:30AM on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095). Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 10:30AM until the time of service (11:30AM). Interment will follow, with full Military Honors, at Washington County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association (2819 W. Highland Boulevard Milwaukee, WI 53208) or the American Legion Post #486 in Jackson.
