Serious-injury accident in neighboring Dodge County

July 28, 2018 – Dodge Co., WI – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash which occurred on a private property parking lot.  A pedestrian suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  A driver was arrested for an OWI violation.

At about 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, 911 calls reported a crash in the parking lot of the BP gas station on State Highway 67 in Ashippun.

 

A passenger car was parked in a parking stall and backed into a woman who was standing next to another vehicle, nearly 30 feet behind the car.

 

 The car struck the woman, pushed her into the door of the other vehicle, briefly pinning her between the two vehicles.

 

 The woman was transported by ground to an area hospital with serious injuries which are not life-threatening.  No other persons were injured.  The striking vehicle was only occupied by its driver and the other vehicle was occupied by the injured woman’s husband.

The driver of the striking vehicle briefly fled on foot and was acting suspiciously near some garbage cans, but stayed at the gas station.  He was arrested for a felony level 3rd offense OWI, Causing Injury and was brought to the Dodge County Jail.  Charges will be requested to the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office early next week.

 

The location the crash occurred was a parking lot on private property, but a location where OWI and some other traffic laws apply.  The incident is still under investigation and other charges may be requested against the striking driver.
