Obit: Norma M. (Gydesen) Hoberg, 92, of West Bend

July 14 2018 – West Bend, WI – Norma M. Hoberg (nee Gydesen), age 92 years, of West Bend passed away on July 9, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend.

She was born on October 19, 1925 in Rhinelander to Hans Gydesen (born in Denmark) and Ingeborg Gydesen (nee Arnesen – born in Norway).

Norma attended Rhinelander Public Schools and graduated high school in 1943.  After graduation she worked for the Rhinelander Paper Mill where she met her future husband Harold “Hal” Hoberg.  They were united in marriage on August 13, 1949 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Rhinelander.  Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to the Milwaukee area and then to Cedarburg where they lived for 46 years.  Norma worked in the pharmacy at Lasata Care Center for many years.  In 1999 they moved to Cedar Community in the town of West Bend.

Norma was a long-time member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Slinger.  She loved to play cards with friends, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and cooking.  One of the highlights of her life was traveling to Denmark and Norway to reconnect with her family.  Norma especially treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Those Norma leaves behind to cherish her memory include, two sons, David (Debra) Hoberg of Shiocton and James Hoberg of Cedarburg; two grandchildren, Matthew Hoberg and Jodi Hoberg; two nieces, Darlene (John) Chiloyan and Jane (Al) Giesecke; two nephews, Rob (Lori) Paul and Bruce (Debra) Paul; and other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by husband, Harold Hoberg; brother, Waldemar “Walter” (Barbara) Gydesen.

A Memorial Service for Norma will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Luke Lutheran Church (4860 Arthur Rd, Slinger, WI  53086) with Pastor Steven Clingman officiating.

Norma’s family will greet relatives and friends at Church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Luke Church Building Fund are appreciated.

Norma’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Cedar Bay West Assisted Living for their patience and the kindness they provided.
