Kettle Moraine YMCA’s Dynamite Gymnastics Team Shatter Expectations at YMCA National Championships

July 14, 2018 – West Bend, WI – The 2018 YMCA National Gymnastics Championship “Shattering Expectations” was hosted by the YMCA of Greater Toledo from June 28-June 30. The Dynamites’ team consisted of 26 gymnasts in USAG Girls’ Levels 2-7 and Xcel Gold. This is an annual event where more than 2,000 YMCA gymnasts from across the country compete in the season’s largest meet that gymnasts prepare for year-round. Gymnastics Director Danielle Rhoads coached this year’s team.

Four of our Dynamites are national champions at their level: Si Qi Gundrum, Level 3 bar champion with a 9.4, Amelia Jordan, Level 5 beam champion with an 8.875, McKennah Orth, Level 6 bar champion with a 9.3 and floor champion with a 9.375, and Taylor Peterson, Level 6 bar champion with a 9.125.

The following gymnasts finished in the top 3 spots in events at their level:

Olivia Dourn, Level 2, took 3rd place on vault with a 9.225 and 3rd place on floor with a 9.075. Jordan Jashinsky, Level 2, took 3rd place on vault with a 9.3. Si Qi Gundrum took 3rd place on vault with a 9.45, 2nd place on floor with a 9.575, and 2nd place all around with a 37.65. Harper Herriges, Level 3, took 2nd place on bars with a 9.35. Payton Lessner, Level 4, took 3rd place on vault with an 8.675. Makayla Cibulka, Level 5, took 2nd place on bars with an 8.95 and 3rd place all around with a 35.1. Amelia Jordan, Level 5, took 3rd place on bars with an 8.7 and 2nd place all around with a 35.225. Ella Pickart, level 5 took 3rd on bars with a 8.5 and 2nd on beam with a 8.55. Isabelle Thomas, level 5 took 3rd place on vault with a 9.0, 3rd place on bars with a 8.5, 3rd place on beam with an 8.525 and 2nd all around with a 34.45. Mckennah Orth, level 6 took 2nd  place on beam with a 9.325 and 2nd in all around with a 37.00.Taylor Peterson, Level 6, took 3rd place all around with a 35.8. Chloe Reuter, Level 6, took 2nd place on floor with a 9.3. Kaitlyn Levsen, Level 6, took 3rd place on beam with a 9.275. Maya Indiraraj, Xcel Gold, took 3rd place all around with a 35.5. The Level 6 team took 8th place overall out of 65 participating teams.
