$40,000 damage following morning house fire in Richfield

 

May 4, 2018 – Richfield, WI – On Friday, May 4, 2018, at approximately 10:59 a.m., the owners of a single-family residence located in the 3700 block of W. Overlook Dr., Village of Richfield, contacted Washington County Sheriff’s Office to report smoke coming from an area near their kitchen sink.

 

Deputies and firefighters from the Richfield Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Assistance was also requested from the Germantown, Hartford, Jackson, and Slinger Fire Departments, and Lifestar Ambulance.The first arriving deputy observed moderate smoke coming from the kitchen area, and ensured that all of the occupants had been safely evacuated.

 

Richfield firefighters located a fire in the cabinets adjacent to the kitchen sink and were able to quickly extinguish it. Fire-related damage is estimated at approximately $40,000. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

 

The fire does not appear to be suspicious, and the matter remains under investigation by Washington County Sheriff’s Fire Investigators.

 

W. Overlook Drive at Scenic Road was closed for approximately 1.25 hours to facilitate firefighting and overhaul operations.
