Fatal accident in Washington County

April 3, 2018 – West Bend, WI – On April 3, 2018 at approximately 12:04 p.m. the West Bend Police Department was notified of a single vehicle crash on STH 33 at Aerial Drive. Personnel from the West Bend Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, first responders found the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle to be deceased.  It was also determined that the crash occurred in the Town of Trenton, and the scene was turned over to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

A preliminary on-scene investigation revealed the following: A passenger car, operated by a 26 year-old City of Milwaukee man, was eastbound on STH 33 in the area of Aerial Drive.

The vehicle crossed over the westbound lane of travel, left the roadway, and struck a large tree located north side of STH 33.  The operator and sole occupant was not wearing his seat belt, and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Washington County Medical Examiner.  This was Washington County’s second traffic fatality of 2018.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit, and no further information will be released at this time. STH 33 between Trenton Rd. and N.Oak Rd was closed for approximately 4 hours to facilitate investigative and clean-up efforts.  The Wisconsin State Patrol, West Bend Police Department and Washington County Highway Department assisted with the closure/detour.
