Barbara Elenora Remington Condon, a long-time resident of West Bend, died suddenly this week.
Born into a military family stationed in Hawaii, Barbara went on to live in many parts of the country, including several years in the Philippines. Art became her passion and she attended Art School in both Buffalo, New York and Washington DC.
The love of her life, her husband Earl, literally came knocking on her front door and they were married in 1958. Earl was a Navy man so Barbara continued to move to different states over the next 30 years including Maryland, Virginia and California. In 1995 Earl and Barbara made West Bend Wisconsin their home. And Holy Angels Catholic Church (front pew of course) their place of worship.
Sadly Barbara suffered with the loss of her youngest daughter, Sandi Gallego, grandson Nicholas Schommer, brother Edward Remington and husband Earl, in recent years, but continued to be surrounded by her large loving family.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters Elizabeth (Chuck) Schommer and Patricia (Tom) Friedemann; 13 grandchildren Theresa (Johannes) Koenig, Kristen (Katie) Schommer, Seth (Megan) Schommer, David (Anna) Koenig, Dane (Rachel) Schommer, Megan Schommer, Cathy Gallego, Mark Koenig, Stephanie (Dustin) Koenig, Tony Gallego, Alex Friedemann, Sam Friedemann, Jack Friedemann and 10 great grandchildren Anthony, Christian, Mason, Michael, Kaleb, Hunter, Kayla, Nadine, Mason, and unborn baby Clara/Julien.
Barbara was a kind gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Catholic Charities, 702 S High Point Road, Madison, Wi. 53719.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding.
The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family. On-line guestbook and condolences available at www.schmidtfuneralhome.com.
