Dodge County Sheriff responds to early morning snowmobile accident in Town of Shields

Feb. 8, 2018 – Dodge Co., WI –  At 3:59 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2018 the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office investigated a snowmobile crash Hwy. Q near Walton Road in the town of Shields. A 27-year-old male from Watertown was operating his snowmobile on the highway and on private property.

The operator entered a plowed field and was thrown from the snowmobile. Watertown Fire and Paramedics responded along with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.  The operator was transported to Aurora Hospital in Summit with non-life-threatening injuries.  The operator was arrested for Operating a Snowmobile while under the Influence.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt encourages everyone to enjoy the snowmobiling opportunities that are available in Dodge County, however, just as in a car, it is important to never operate a snowmobile while under the influence of an intoxicant.  The result of operating a snowmobile while under the influence can very quickly turn tragic and we want everyone out there to return home safely to their families each and every night.

Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Watertown Fire and Paramedics.

Questions may be directed to Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt.
