Joan E. Sutter, nee Chapman, age 95, of St. Therese, New Hope, MN, formerly of West Bend, WI, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016.
She was born on January 27, 1921 in Cairo, Egypt to the late Prof. Henry and Gladys (nee Chandler) Chapman. At the age of 5, she came to the United States from England on the ship H.M.S. Aquitania on Feb. 12, 1926.
She attended Michigan State University where she met her husband. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Sutter on October 23, 1943. Her husband passed away on May 8, 1999.
Joan was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Â She enjoyed playing Bridge and shopping.
Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Sutter; fond sister of Dudley (the late Sally) Chapman; loving mother of Robert K. (Donna) Sutter, John W. “Bill” (Judy) Sutter, and Beverly (Thomas) Gale; dear grandmother of Robert W. (Brenda) Sutter, James B. (Kelly) Sutter, Kristin (Darrel) Noel, Vicki (Bryan) Mueller and Lori (Cody) Cunningham; great-grandmother of 17; further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services in remembrance of Joan will be held on Wednesday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend, WI. Burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, WI. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
