The metal muffin trays were a coveted item at the 8th Annual Souper Bowl Saturday Soup and Chili Cook-Off.
The event, sponsored by the West Bend Kiwanis, drew a hungry crowd Saturday to the cafeteria at Silverbrook School in West Bend.
There were 30 participants serving up hot scoops of chili that varied from spicy to spaghetti noodles to chili that promised it wouldn’t create any ‘gaseous’ after effects.
Participating local businesses included Krimmer’s, Jug’s Hitching Post, Mother’s Day, Moonlighting, Sandy’s Barton Cafe, Timmer’s Resort, The Norbert, Shell West, Minuteman Press, Brazen Head, West Bend Tap & Tavern and even several teams from the West Bend Fire Department were on hand to serve up something hot.
Families took advantage of the muffin tins to load up a variety of chili samples and then top them off with a spoonful of shredded cheese, onions and crackers.
Kiwani Larry Koziol provided some play-by-play during the event and folks bid on raffle items including a 50-inch LED TV, round trip air to Cancun, Packers autographed football and a pontoon boat ride with appetizers and beverage followed by dinner for 6 will be available for raffle or silent auction.
