Nov. 20, 2017 – Washington Co., WI – The UW-Washington County women’s basketball team picked up a win in its first game of the season against UW-Marshfield, 49-39.
After struggling offensively throughout the first half, the Wildcats expanded a 21-17 halftime lead to 12 points by the end of the third quarter.
Shortly into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats saw its lead dwindle to six, shooting only 26 percent from the field in the quarter.
However, the team used a strong finish to seal the win and come out victorious.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by Meghan MacFarlane with 14 points and Marissa Kaul with 10 points.
Sammie Brown was one point away from a double double with nine points and 14 rebounds.
Greta Strasser led the team with six steals.
The Wildcats play on the road Dec. 1 against UW-Fond du Lac.
