Accidental shooting in the Village of Newburg Sunday morning. Washington County Sheriff’s said they received a call at 1:09 a.m., about a subject who was shot in the Village of Newburg at 451 Main St.
Upon arrival deputies found a 36-year-old Village of Newburg man, had accidentally shot a 35-year-old Town of Farmington man, while showing him a handgun that he was trying to sell.
Deputies and a detective said upon further investigation that the handgun had not been completely cleared of ammunition, and it had discharged a bullet into the arm of the victim.
The round had not penetrated into any other apartments. The discharge appears to be accidental in nature, however the Village of Newburg man was believed to be intoxicated at the time, and was taken into custody for intoxicated use of a firearm.
The victim was transported to Froedtert Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released.
