Nov. 2, 2017 – Slinger, WI – David K. Koenig, 77, of Slinger, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born March 23, 1940 in Menomonie, WI to Harvey and Aletha (nee Oleson) Koenig. He was united in marriage to Judith M. Esser on June 16, 1962 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in Hartford. He owned and operated Dave’s Barber Shop in Hartford for 35 years, then worked for Helgesen Industries Inc. for 10 years, and recently enjoyed serving as a crossing guard for 8 years in Slinger. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judy Koenig; loving son, Kurt (Laura) Koenig of Keller, TX; and cherished grandchildren, Daniel (Kelsey) and Alexandra (Roberto) Koenig; and dear sister-in-law, Clarice Koenig. He is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ivan Koenig and Anita (Marvin) Moe; and siblings-in-law, Janet Esser, Patricia (Daniel) Boden, and Richard (Helen) Esser.
A Funeral Service for Dave will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union Street Hartford, WI 53027) with Fr. David LaPlante officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 9:30-11:30a.m. Immediately following services, interment in St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
